When you hear that somebody got their head smashed in with a hammer, even if you do not like the person on a political level or a personal level, nobody deserves that. The whole country hopes that he has an easy recovery, and the crazy guy who did that to him is put in jail for a very very long time.

Theory 1: He was a right wing “nut”, and his motives were political
To quote Elon Musk, “The Bird has been freed”, and elections are less than 2 weeks away with a lot of people expecting a red wave. This guy did “go down the rabbit hole” with conspiracies (2020 elections, 911 was an inside job, COVID vaccines are bad for you, 5G technology caused COVID, and a bunch of other stuff that is just not worth repeating). Every conspiracy, this guy seemed to believe.
But let’s just focus on the “2020 elections were stolen” (regardless of if you believe or do not believe it happened). The Jan 6 protesters are still in jail in solitary confinement (forbidden from mingling with the general prison population), some awaiting their trial, and others still have not had formal charges against them.
Many believe that they are political prisoners. But regardless of if you believe or not believe that is the case, the one thing you can be sure of is that if you “break and enter” into the Speaker of the House’s personal residence and threaten violence on the Speaker of the House or anybody in her family, that you will never see the outside of a jail cell for the rest of your life.
From a political perspective, it is no-win scenario. Nothing positive can come out of it, and it will not sway voting in either direction.
Theory 2: He was “hired by the Dems”
Paul Pelosi got his head smashed in. If he only ended up with a black eye or even a broken arm or a broken leg, maybe, it could be possible, but there is no way that either Nancy or Paul wanted Paul’s head smashed in with a hammer.
Theory 3: Paul Pelosi is gay, and he and David got into a “lover’s spat”
Yes, David DePape was found by police in his underwear, but then David DePape is a nudist activist and walking around in his underwear may just be his standard way to dress at night. There is mention that David was married, and that he had a female roommate, but there is nothing about him ever being gay. There are only records of him being anti-trans.
My theory: David DePape worked at Twitter and he “cracked” when Musk officially took over
David DePape lived in San Francisco. David DePape was a nudist. If you were a nudist, what would be your “dream job”?
If it was me, I would say, getting to look at nude pictures all day and get paid for it. What company hires people to look at nude pictures all day? Twitter.
Musk had announced in the previous week that 75% of the Twitter workforce was going to be laid off, and most likely a large portion of that would be the content moderators.
How many companies are going to want to hire people whose only experience is “looking at nude pictures”? Not many. So his dream job, and high pay, was most likely going to disappear … and on top of that, a lot of other tech companies were announcing hiring freezes due to the bad economy.
He was already on the “crazy side”, so something like losing your job could put a person over the edge.

- 2002 – 20 years ago, he moved from Canada to California.
- 2011-2012, participated a large number of nudist protests.
- 2013 – 9 years ago, he was a witness at a wedding for a nude couple. He was part of the nudist community.
- 2014 – David DePape was kicked him out of their house by his girlfriend (and mother of two of his children).
- 2014 – 8 years ago he was living in a storage locker and was addicted to drugs.
- 2020 – 2022 – Managed a blog that had “conservative” conspiracy theories.
- 2022 – weeks before the attack, David DePape was living in a school bus parked in front of the Berkeley home of his ex, San Francisco pro-nudist activist Gypsy Taub, with whom he shares three children.

How did his daughter describe David DePape?
“Gonzalez described DePape as someone who ‘did genuinely try to be a good person,’ but added ‘the monster in him was always too strong for him to be safe to be around.’”
Gonzalez’s parents met in Maui in 2000. The couple moved in the Bay area shortly after Gonzalez was born. The couple split up in 2014, when Gonzalez was 13 years old. His mother kicked him out of the house because of his “toxic behavior”.
Inti Gonzalez wrote that her stepfather had a “monster” in him and subjected her and his sons to “extreme abuse.”
“Six months later Nebosvod, the middle brother, started getting memories of David physically and sexually abusing me and my brothers, which started when we were very young and continued until around 2008, when I was 7. All this was a surprise for us considering that he was always a quiet person.” Gonzalez claimed [DePape’s daughter]. “I love my father. He did genuinely try to be a good person but the monster in him was always too strong for him to be safe to be around. He grew up in an intensely abusive home.”
“This attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband came as a shock to me, though not much considering the kind of extreme abuse he had inflicted on me and my brothers,” Gonzalez said in her statement.
Although their mother filed a police report accusing DePape of abuse “the case was not managed properly, so nothing was done about it,” wrote Gonzalez.
She claimed she and her younger brother Daniel also “started getting memories of his abuse.” In other words, both her and her brother were being abused when they were less than 7 years of age.
She also alleged DePape’s single mother “was a person who would beat him almost to death.”
“He barely opened up about himself or his past but it was obvious that he grew up in hell and that we didn’t know the worst of it,” she wrote.
Gonzalez tried to contact David DePape about 4 months ago to confront him about the abuse he did to her. She said the conversation ended when he refused to admit to the abuse.
Summary
David DePape was physically abused (and maybe even sexually abused) as a child. He physically and sexually abused his own children. In simple terms, he was nuts.
His life had been having issues (kicked out of his own home) since 2014, 8 years ago. His children hated him. So why now? Why go loco now?
From a political perspective on the Republican side, things are going great — Bird is freed and a red wave is expected in the 2022 elections.
The only thing that has changed from a negative perspective is Elon Musk taking over Twitter and it getting finalized on Friday, the day of the attack.
Plus, who “brings a hammer” to a fight that is serious about doing a physical fight wearing nothing, but their underwear? Not to mention that it is really weird that there is no security. Why did 911 not get automatically called when the glass was broken? Who had the hammer? Some articles state that Paul had the hammer, the two fought over the hammer, David got it, and then attacked Paul with the hammer. And why are they not releasing the 911 call?
Paul went to the bathroom where his cell phone was charging and made a call to 911. Did Paul get a hammer to use as a defense weapon?
David DePape is nuts. He needs to be put in prison and never released. And if the child abuse charges are valid, those should be added to the list of charges. But then if he had been put in jail for child abuse of two children 10 years ago, he would still be in jail and this event never would have happened.
